Word Perfect Merge File Create Via WPMERGE.LTR

Installation: (only if WPMERGE.LTR is missing from your list of available letters)

To install, exit to your farm directory by typing "CD\MYFARM4" [press Enter] at any DOS prompt (if you used a different directory for your farm program install, substitute it for "MYFARM4" above). Then with the disk you received in your A: drive, type "COPY A:*.*" [press Enter].

Usage:

To use, enter Mail merge Letters, and load "WPMERGE.LTR". Use Alt-F if you want to use other fields than those shown. IMPORTANT NOTE: You may only use ONE field per Line! If more fields are needed, add them as individual lines to the end of the document. Now, press Shift and F10 at the same time to create the merge file. There will now be a file in your farm directory with the same name as the farm you are using, but with a ".WPM" extension. This file with the ".WPM" extension is now ready to be used by WordPerfect!

If you have problems with blank fields in merged documents:

1. First make sure that the fields actually contain data! You may need to change your query to exclude records.
2. Check Appendix A - Farm File Layout in your program manual for field types.

The WordPerfect Merge file generator (Shift-F10) does not currently convert non-character fields. These fields will be left blank.

Type 'C' fields are character fields, type 'N' are numeric, and type 'D' are date.

Workaround: (if the problem is being caused by use of non-character fields)

Use the STR( ) function for numeric fields and DTOC( ) function for date fields.
