Convert Utility - 6.x "Error Reading Install Data"

Problem:

During a Copy Program to Floppy operation, the "Error Reading Install Data" message pops up.

Description:

This error is caused by a missing file ( INSTALL.CFG ) which should reside in the Program Path directory. e.g. C:\IP_PRGS\FMS46. This file can be created using DOS 5.0's EDIT utility. (See directions below.)

1. Make sure you are in the necessary directory. Write down the name of the drive and directory of the Program Path you are using to create the program.

2. If you are creating an install.cfg file for FMS 5.x; at the C:\> prompt, Type
cd \ip_prgs\fms50 [ENTER] ([ENTER] means press the enter key.)

2a. If you are creating an install.cfg file for FMS 4.x, Type
cd \ip_prgs\fms46 [ENTER]

3. At the C:\IP_PRGS\(program)> prompt, Type
edit install.cfg [ENTER] ( (program) being either FMS46 or FMS50 )

4. For FMS 5.x:

Put the following text into the file.

  • 1:FARMING.BAT

    • 1:INSTALL.DAT

    1:FM.DBM

    1:FMSCR.DBM

    1:DATDIC.DBM

    1:QBE.DBX

    1:QBE.DBT

    1:INSTALL.EXE

    1:DISK.ID

    1:STARTUP.LBR

    1:GREETING.TXT

    1:LOGO.PCB

    The contents of this file must match the above text exactly!

    4a. For FMS 4.x:

    For FMS 4.6:

    Put the following text into the file.

  • 1:INSTALL.EXE
  • 1:INSTALL.DAT
  • 1:GREETING.TXT
  • 1:IPSPELL.EXE
  • 2:DISKID.02/DISK.ID
  • 1:DISK.ID
  • 2:STARTUP.EXE

    • For FMS 4.7 versions prior ro FMS 4.7 R01 b03:

    (for example FMS 4.7 R01 b02)

    Put the following text into the file.

    1:INSTALL.EXE

    1:INSTALL.DAT

    1:FMSREG.FDB

    1:GREETING.TXT

    1:IPSPELL.EXE

    2:DISKID.02/DISK.ID

    1:DISK.ID

    2:STARTUP.EXE

    For FMS 4.7 versions of FMS 4.7 R01 b03 or later:

    (for example FMS 4.7 R03 xxxx)

    Put the following text into the file.

    1:INSTALL.EXE

    1:INSTALL.DAT

    1:GREETING.TXT

    1:START472.LBR

    2:DISKID.02/DISK.ID

    1:DISK.ID

    2:START471.LBR

    The contents of these files must match the above text exactly!

    5.
