This document assumes that you have dialed into the Austin MLS and captured the listing information using RedCap or RedCap Lite. If you have used PHOTOCOM from Boris then please refer to techfax # 0622.

Other communication programs will probably work fine as long as only character data is captured.

IMPORTANT DETAILS

• Window's 95 Hyperterminal is not supported. You data will not convert if Hyperterminal was used.
• When using the Austin MLS you must have your access device setting configured as Other PC or CRT Terminal (option 3). Otherwise your data will be skewed, preventing conversion.

• You will next select your criteria for your search. (I.E. Status, Price Range, Type of Property, etc.).

• When asked if you like to see Tax Info - It is at this point that you need to start capturing Boris data, before you answer this question! While it is quicker to capture and convert data without the Tax Info, a variety of data (E.G. mailing address, zoning, etc.) is only supplied with the Tax Info data.
• If you see either of the questions shown above- just hit your Enter key. Wait until you see the questions before hitting Enter. Hitting Enter before the questions are asked will not speed things up and can corrupt your data.

WHICH TEMPLATE TO SELECT

If using RedCap Lite the Austin MLS templates you need will show under the file/convert menu as:

a_res_nt.!tx for Austin MLS Residential data NO TAX INFO

a_res_rc.!tx for Austin MLS Residential data with TAX INFO

a_ntx_rc.!tx for Austin MLS INTAX standard reports

Please note that the last two letters before the file extension are 'RC' for RedCap.

The template a_rec_pc.!tx is for data that was captured via the Boris PHOTOCOM program.

If using RedCap (for DOS) the Austin MLS templates needed will show under the file/convert menu as:
